ATTIC RED FIGURE CHOUS, 5TH CENTURY B.C.

Red-figure attic chous depticing a naked child holding a phiale and facing an oenochoe. The ground is depicted by an ovum frieze.
The chous, a variant of the oenochoe shape, was given to children on the Anthesteria festival which was held in Athens in spring in honour of Dionysus. The representations on these vases were mostly childhood games.
