TERRACOTTA REPRESENTING EROS, TANAGRA, 3RD CENTURY B.C.
Terracotta statuette of an Eros playing the zither, represented his arm raised in a playing position. Unfortunately the zither is missing.
Music and dance played a large role in the daily lives at banquets, weddings and funerals. They mostly accompanied duties of citizens to worship the gods. The sacrifices were preceded by hymns and rituals and dances around the altar.
