GNATHIAN EPICHYSIS, 4TH CENTURY B.C.
Very well preserved epichysis of the style of Gnathia decorated on the body and neck, with friezes of ovum, greek keys, chevron-patterns and vines grapes in added white, yellow and purple. A few incised lines emphasize the elegant shape of the vase.
The production of this technique began around 350 B.C. near Taranto, probably in the workshop of the Ilioupersis painter and was then very popular: it was exported regionally and in Cyrenaica and Egypt, which were found vases attributed to the workshop of the Group of Alexandria about 290-280 B.C.
