MICHOACAN TERRACOTTA IDOLE, 200-100 B.C.

Terracotta statuette of a woman standing with arms slightly apart along the body. She wears a loincloth knoted in a sort of belt. The torso is covered by a scarf tied at the side and two large disk earrings on both lobes. The head is covered with a cross-patterned headdress. 

Michoacan culture, western Mexico, end of the Preclassic period, 200-100 B.C.

Provenance: Former Guy Joussemet collection, Montreal.
